I’m sick of hearing about “living in unprecedented times.” I’m a Xennial, my entire life has been full of unprecedented events. And I’m tired. Bone tired.
My mother is the epitome of grit and because of this, my resilience capacity has always been higher than most. But this comes at a cost. The cost is when my resilience is low, there a few people around me that can fill me up.
As I watch the madness play out in the US and on the world stage it’s become very clear that grit and resilience are priorities to survive these times, both physically and emotionally. Here comes my idea of a resilience container.
Not a place where folks show up and hemorrhage the emotional energy of the group, but a place where someone like me can come to be filled, and when I’m at capacity, fill others. A resilience and grit exchange.
I’d love to hear more ideas or examples of similar containers developed to support folks. I’m radical in my love and support of myself and committed to guiding others. Not by just teaching, but through experiential learning.
Because I’m tired.
